We’ve been meaning to head to this spot for ages. Ages. Sin City Soul Deli Caribbean BBQ first crossed the Vegans, Baby radar in 2017 when Chef William Henry was dropping Caribbean vegan nights. Even though they’re on hiatus (we’re going to get them to bring ’em back, swear!), Sin City Soul Deli hasn’t stopped catering to vegans in Las Vegas with their Caribbean vegan BBQ.
Located on the corner of 3rd and Las Vegas Blvd. (use your maps to get you there and park on Utah), this large spot offers some incredible vegan BBQ and doubles as an art gallery. While there isn’t a vegan menu per se, Chef Henry knows what he’s doing.
Case in point? When he offered to whip something up for us in the kitchen, we let him create the magic.
And, we weren’t disappointed with what we got: two heaping plates of Caribbean vegan food.
The first plate was packed with lemon-y squash, a tangy coleslaw, fried vegan spring rolls, the best coconut-cumin-black bean rice ever and sweet peppers. Now, often times at places the veggies don’t have a lot of flavor or are super oil-y. Not here. The vegetables had delicate flavors and weren’t loaded down with oil. This dish filled with vegetables is perhaps the most flavorful dish of veggies we’ve ever had.
The other dish? Gahhhhhh. Sweet potato fries and fried plantains. Dessert or side dish? You decide.
If you want to simply order off of the menu (it’s far more fun to have Chef Henry come up with something though!), Sin City Soul Deli can tweak some of their dishes to be vegan like its fried rice or Caribbean Salad, plus those sides like the rice and plantains are all vegan.
