What do you get when you mix Indian street food with traditional Indian food mixed with a massive section of vegan Indian food and a new chef who hails from the five-star world? Answer: Urban Turban.
This Indian restaurant located near Hard Rock Hotel has created one darn good-looking Indian vegan menu, thanks to the innovative chef recently brought in to helm the restaurant: Chef Tarun Kapoor. Specializing in modern Indian dishes, Kapoor has been awarded heavily for his culinary creations, including earning the title of Master Chef from the Culinary Awards in 2010, Chef of the Year 2011 by the World Association of Chefs Societies – India and Senior Chef Qatar 2013.
With a revamped menu, Urban Turban is set to emerge as one of the go-to spots in town for vegan Indian dining, thanks to its dozen-plus items to chow down on. Start your meal with the lentil soup — a curried lentil broth that packs a sensational flavor — and then share the Pani Puri (think tiny little pastry filled with potato and a side of herb water to dunk it in). From there, it’s the Dal Tadka for an entree. Finish off your meal with a chocolate samosa. Seriously.
The menu also features items like Bombay Behl, puffed rice with veggies; samosas; mushrooms in a sweet garlic; and entrees including veggie korma, potato vindaloo, aloo matar and aloo gobi.
We can’t decide what we like more: how fantastic the food is or how affordable. Entrees will set you back less than $14. Bottom line: if you’re looking for amazing vegan Indian food in Las Vegas, Urban Turban is a sure-bet.
